A) 'K, what are they? Ponder that "for a spell", as my late, very special paternal grandmother would say!
B) A "cave" is an actual physical place/space JUST for the Mom!...or Dad!...to have to themselves! I know of several "Mom caves" for sewing! A "Dad cave", I know of, is out in a small barn or SHED.
C) HISTORY? There seems to have always been a special "cave" for men, I believe, but earlier on they were called "sheds"...outside. My father and paternal grandfather had "sheds." And women, when homes were two-story, or larger, had a special room just for them, often for the sewing machine. Remember, times have a way of changing in our American society.
D) OK, then, what about the older-fashioned term called a "den"? Would that room now be called a "family cave", for the 21st century?
E) "A place to...PIDDLE!" I've used that term in an earlier blog. Have you ever "piddled"?
F) ...maybe a bit more....
