A) Phyllis Schneck...her late husband and she met as teens in NJ. She, "kind and caring, often donated her handmade aprons and needlepoint projects to benefit food banks and children's charities. She had three children, 7 grandchildren and one great-grandchild."
Her family, after her husband's death ten years ago, was her life! Cooking was her passion. "She had a sense of humor and loved to bowl and would give you the shirt off a person's back!
B) Dorothy Morris...her husband, George, was beside her when she died. She died, and he survived being shot in the chest and leg. They met as high school students. George was a retired airline pilot...they had two daughters.
C) Gabriel Zimmerman...when Gabe visited the Lincoln Memorial in January of 2009, it was freezing cold, but he HAD to stand in front of the Gettysburg Address and read every single word! He was an intensely passionate believer in History and worked in Congresswoman Giffords' Tucon office. And he was devoted to his job there! Even, before his coming marriage to Katie O'Brien for 2012, he searched for THE perfect engagement ring for his sweetheart.
When Gabe exercised on his Stairmster, often, the intensity was his primary goal left him drenched with perspiration.
"He loved helping his constituents solve problems, and he was always a caring child growing up, too." His BA in Sociology was a natural for him, with "so much patience in helping those people who came to him."
Oh, Gabe ran marathons and had hiked the Grand Canyon many times....
D) Dorwan Stoddard...Dorwan and Mavy had known each other as children near Tucson but moved away and married others. They both widowed but reunited nearly 15 years ago and...finally married! "They got into people's lives" one of their church members said. The new couple liked to befriend couples who needed assistance from their church and also delivered food and flowers to the sick, quietly. Dorwan spent hours piddling at his church, with his black dog, Tux....fixing and doing maintenance work at the church. Dorwan even built a special for parents to take crying children who needed a bit of "soothing" but could still hear the piped-in church services. Members called it "Dory's Room."
On that Saturday morning, both Mavy and Dorwan went to stand in line, waiting to meet their Arizona Congresswoman. She heard something like fireworks near them. As they both dove for some chairs, Dorwan fell towards and on her, to protect his Mavy! She was hit in her leg. But before Dorwan died, protecting her, she had a moment to whisper goodbye to her...hero.
E) Christina Taylor Green...family and friends describe her as quiet, smart and...a gentle soul. We know now that she was born on Sept. 11, 2001 and featured in the 2002 book of portraits called "Faces of Hope." "She came in on a tragedy, and she left on a tragedy," her father said of her recently.
Christina was in a third-grader and liked to wear red, white and blue...loved baseball...loved animals and wanted to be a veterinarian. She was a passionate dancer, along with...that BASEBALL! Hmmmmm....
Some know that Christina was elected to her Mesa Verde Elementary School in Tucson...excellent speaker. And she attended St. Odilia's Parish Catholic Church.
Sorry, I can go no further...Christian's passing in such a way and time will affect moi for a long time.....
F) I wanted blog readers and friends to know a bit more about each person murdered in Tucson, with simple respect and besides what has been promoted for days in the news media....
