A) Most sandwich lettuce, usually "iceberg", that you, the public add to your sandwich, has been chopped back in a "kitchen", sealed in a plastic bag and then shipped to a sandwich shop, some type of restaurant or a taco-style place, ahead of time before using. Sometimes, that chopped lettuce has been dipped into a water + solution to prevent it from deteriorating. I've seen "them" fill a large professional sink, back in the kitchen, with tap water and sprinkle it with some type of "chemical." And I do not know what it's called...I need to ask!
B) The sandwich shops, restaurants and taco places receive the chopped sandwich lettuce in large sealed plastic bags, to be used in preparing your sandwich or taco.
C) Next time you order a fave sandwich or taco "out" with chopped lettuce and it tastes with a slight age to it? Politely ask someone in charge if your lettuce was chopped or sliced on premise or shipped to you in a plastic bag? You do have a right to know!
D) I used to own, back a ways, two special sandwich shoppes...EVERY meat, cheese and lettuce WAS sliced in our own kitchens!....the NOR Sandwiches Shoppes, Ltd....earned two separate years of being declared the "most creative NEW sandwich in America!" Even winning once a cruise trip to Hawai'i for a NEW recipe!!
E) BUT JUST WAIT...THE SERPENTINE BOND! 600+ page epic novel about seven university students, being edited now (4/5ths completed), W-I-L-L be a huge bestseller all across Amer-i-ca and the World.....!!
