137- IF A YOUNG BLACK BEAR FEARING FOR ITS LIFE, UP A TREE, Is SHOT TO DEATH.....?.....

A) ....scenes from my childhood...one summer morning, as a young boy, I noticed a steady stream of agitated men running through my neighborhood on the edge  of a small town.  I had no idea why.
And, being naturally curious, I made my way through the field to a woods on my great-uncle's rural farm.  The men had congregated around one small tree in the garden,  with a stare up to that one tree.  No one, for some time around the veggie garden and under the tree, had uttered a word to each other.  That, to a little boy, was...strange.
B)  There was a small black bear hugging on for dear life, halfway up the tree!
One of the brave "men" lifted a pistol and shot the bear...three times.  With that, the terrified creature relaxed its death grip, slowly sliding down through the limbs and leaves, cracking, and then fell to the ground with a crashing thud!  The life of one non-harming creature had ended, in a garden amongst plantings of squash and snap beans.
Whoops, forgot...the assembled group of brave men cheered at the moment the once living creature struck the ground.
C) Yes, that scene that summer morning, for this little boy, was, forever, indelibly imprinted in my growing memory bank of experiences.  This munchkin learned to and taught myself to "see" details of experiences before falling to sleep most nights and to use them later in different ways, especially knowing that I, at a young age, wanted to...write!  Yes, that's one of my secrets to being able to compose fine details to whatever is being composed on paper.....
D) THE SERPENTINE BOND!  My first novel, an epic 600+ pages, is about seven collegians who meet that first week of classes on a large, historic Eastern campus.  The four coeds and three guys create a strong platonic bond, full of adventures and confabs in their "secret garden sanctuary" and No. 37 old dorm room, BUT not in the normal classroom.
Using, continually, those learned skills of remembering "details" as a young boy, my novel's plot will be quite vivid for the millions of readers to come!  Many months have been slowly spent editing, tweaking, this epic story of those SEVEN collegiate chums.  And I can "see" the light off at the other portal of the proverbial covered bridge...dang!
E)  Plus...for practice and just plain fun, 190+ diverse essays have been published in "America's oldest newspaper" (The Virginia Gazette), along with handsful of mag articles around my native Virginia and the Country have also been published, too.
My story shared in an earlier blog, about a Senior English teacher in high school telling moi, in front of the class, that this student lacked the needed skills to be become a "writer", was never forgotten.  This constantly learning guy set out to prove her, anyone...incorrect.  Hmmmm.....
