#1) On the "Floor" of our U.S. Congress, both Houses: "ANYTHING can be said on the U.S. House of Reps and U.S. Senate "Floors", and no one can be charged with saying anything for any reason!! This U.S. government educator, often over the years, has visited both Houses of our U.S. Congress in D.C., up in the Galleries, and observed "real" issues and debates. Also, a Congressional Hearing....
#2) A U.S. Senator or a House of Representative has their comments recorded into the Congressional Record! However, have discovered that they can personally ask the person in charge of printing it to "change" a word or sentence or paragrah....or, also, insert a "point" or a person's name or comment that was not actually spoken on the floor! Also, I know of times, over the years, when a Senator or Rep even had a "letter" or someone's personally written essay published, with that Senator's blessing! WHY? Makes the Senator or Rep, possibly, sound more important back home in their District or for a personal touch.... (The Congressional Record is published DAILY when our U.S. Congress is IN session! Need detailed research for a topic or date? The CR is available for all of us to read but remember what I just shared with you.)
#3) Asking you U.S. Senator or U.S. Representative for a flage flown over our U.S. Capital? YOU CAN! But, want you to know that there is someone (job) who handles all of those requests for one of the flags flown over our U.S. Capital. There is a small(?) fee.
What you didn't know? There is one flag location...that flag flier's job is, all day, to raise a flag up to its pinnacle and then bring it back down....one after the over after the other, all day long.
#4) Did YOU know that there is, way up in the inside rim of our U.S. Capitol Building, a walkway? After investigating once, this adventurer discovered that I could go up there ONLY IF a member of our U.S. Congress (Rep or Senator) would take us up there! So, I asked but was turned down, saying that my Va. senator didn't "have time"....
Oh, I haven't given up on that adventure...yet!
